How do YOU feel physically, mentally, and emotionally after engaging in specific habits throughout the day?
Which habits do YOU believe YOU could benefit from improvement or change to enhance my quality of life?
When a habit starts messing with your daily tasks, relationships, or work, it’s likely becoming a problem. For instance, if your excessive gaming habit is causing you to neglect important responsibilities, it’s time to take a closer look. If a habit is taking a toll on your physical or mental well-being, it’s a glaring sign of trouble. Whether it’s smoking, overindulging in alcohol, unhealthy eating habits, or skipping exercise, these behaviours can signal a problem. Maybe your feeling like you’ve lost control over a habit and find it hard to rein it in is a warning sign. This loss of control can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, or frustration. Perhaps if a habit is burning a hole in your pocket or causing financial strain, it may be a problem. Overspending on shopping, gambling, or maxing out credit cards are signs to watch out for. There could be a reason you’ve tried to kick a habit but feel stuck in the same cycle, it may be a sign that you need outside help or support to break free.
You don’t have to go it alone when it comes to transforming your life!

Habits are the things we do regularly without thinking too much about them. They can be good habits, like exercising or eating healthily, which benefit us, or bad habits, like smoking or procrastinating, which can harm us. Habits play a big role in our daily lives and can have a significant impact on our health, happiness, and success. By recognising our habits and making conscious choices to change them, we can improve our well-being and work towards a better future.
Our habits are shaped by how our brains work, our emotions, and the world around us. When we repeat a behaviour, our brains create stronger connections that make it easier to do that behaviour again. Habits often follow a pattern of cue, routine, and reward, where cues trigger the habit, the behaviour is performed, and a reward reinforces it. The brain releases dopamine, a feel-good chemical, when we do something rewarding, which encourages us to repeat the behaviour. Our environment also influences our habits, with cues in our surroundings triggering certain behaviours. By understanding these factors, we can change our habits to better align with our goals and improve our lives.
The habit cycle is a well know process or way of describing why we behave like we do, it works in three steps: cue, routine, and reward. First, something triggers the habit (cue), then you perform the habit (routine), and finally, you get a reward. Understanding this cycle can help you change habits by replacing the routine with a healthier behaviour that still satisfies the underlying need for a reward.
Forming a new habit can vary from person to person, but on average, it takes about 21 to 66 days for a new behaviour to become a habit. During this time, it’s important to consistently practice the new behaviour to reinforce it. Remember, patience and persistence are key when trying to establish a new habit in your routine.
To change your habits and mindset, start by identifying the habits and thought patterns you want to change. Then, set specific goals for yourself and create a plan to gradually modify your behaviours and beliefs. Practice self-awareness and mindfulness to catch yourself when you fall back into old habits or negative thinking. Surround yourself with positive influences and seek support from friends, family, or professionals if needed. Remember, changing habits and mindset takes time and effort, so be patient with yourself and celebrate your progress along the way.
